FAQS

What is a 2-part Epoxy coating?
Epoxy requires a chemical reaction in order to fully harden and bond to a surface. In order to create the reaction, epoxy must be mixed in two parts (often labeled A and B). Epoxy cannot be mixed together until it is ready to be applied. The epoxy concrete sealer must be applied quickly and evenly in order to achieve the desired result. Epoxy cannot be saved for later use once mixed. Smaller batches of A and B can be mixed together when working with larger surface areas. Before applying epoxy, any areas that should not be covered should be taped off and covered with paper or a tarp. The amount of prep time that is dedicated before mixing both parts will ensure a smoother, easier application. Epoxy will dry and bond to whatever surface it is applied on, so one must be careful when applying the product. Should any dripping occur, a rag can be used to wipe up the excess epoxy. Solvent, usually xylene or paint thinner, is needed for cleaning up. In addition to care when applying, proper ventilation is required. Epoxy can cause irritation and sensitivity in the respiratory system. When proper ventilation cannot be obtained, a respirator should be worn by anyone in the space. Epoxy can be used for numerous applications. Some of the most common surfaces to use epoxy and epoxy concrete sealer include basements, garages, warehouses, gyms, industrial buildings, salons, restaurants, retail, restrooms, car dealerships, and commercial spaces.
What are the benefits of using epoxy over other applications?
Epoxy provides numerous benefits over other applications. Since epoxy concrete sealer dries completely hard, it offers high performance and safety. The almost glass-like finish is impressive to glance upon and it is resistant to scratches. Furthermore, the epoxy is slip resistant once it is dried, so it is perfect for floors, countertops, and other surfaces. A vinyl chip or colored quartz application will reduce slip further. With epoxy concrete sealer, there is minimal maintenance. Epoxy can last for years before the idea of replacing it needs to be considered. Epoxy is also easy to clean with mild cleaners, which adds to the easy maintenance. Unlike paint or concrete stains, epoxy is truly designed to last. The chemical reaction that creates the hard, glossy surface produces a beautiful finish that will last. Regardless of the application, the epoxy concrete sealer will ensure your project maintains an exceptional appearance.
What options make epoxy unique?
With epoxy, you gain a world of freedom you often cannot experience with other applications. Our epoxy concrete sealer can have gold flakes, quartz, and metallics mixed into the product. Rather than layer on top, the add-ins are perfectly blended with the epoxy. As it dries, the added materials are fully encapsulated and protected by the hardened epoxy. The surface will remain perfectly smooth while the light catches gold, quartz, and other metallics in the sealer.
What makes Walttools Epoxy HP a superior product?
Our Walttools Epoxy HP is superior to other epoxies and sealers because of the dedicated engineering that goes behind every product. We use only the highest quality materials and best manufacturing practices to ensure every can of our epoxy is consistently high quality. Epoxy Hp has a long pot life in normal conditions and is easy to lay down, bubbles are practically non-existent. Besides excellent mechanical properties it is easier to apply.

After a lot of years in the coatings industry, I’ve had the opportunity to work with and use a large volume of different products from many manufacturers.
This has given me a unique perspective to truly understand the differences between these brands, and what it is I am looking for from a professional install perspective.
Having had the opportunity to use Walttools HP Epoxy, I can say that it has the professional qualities that I look for in a brand. American made, this product has virtually no smell factor, laid down with zero outgassing bubbles, and the flow rate for creation was top notch. Another factor I appreciate was cure time, as every project I used it for cured completely by the following morning, so we could continue our next steps to completion.
I give this brand and product high mark’s, and I will be recommending it to all of my associates in this industry!
Thanks Walttools for a top notch product!

  2. Leon Marvis

We tried Walttools when our regular source was having supply problems. Their loss, our gain. This epoxy is the bomb. It moves so easy and we had a ton of work time. Almost too much. With metallics we are used to getting rushed a bit but not with this. Quick tip-plan on doing any final manipulation or alcohol addition about 2 hours into the job before it starts locking in.

  3. Quality Floors Illinois

After using many epoxy products over the years you get tired of changing because each requires a learning curve. This one was no different. The learning was good though. I learned you don’t have to rush and you don’t have to constantly chase air bubbles. This has been magic. It flows flat and cures like glass. On chips I don’t care but with metallics it has proven invaluable. When they told me no bubble, they meant it. Excellent epoxy.

  4. Perpetual Concrete

This epoxy is a winner for us, plain and simple.

  5. Steve Barrens

I have always like dealing with these guys for texture tools and mixes. After giving their epoxy a try, I am equally impressed. Its good stuff. Flawless finish on a black countertop. Not easy to do. Flat as can be. Barely picked up my torch. This epoxy makes me want to accept more countertop rehabs. Highly recommended.

  6. Dannon decorative concrete

Price was better than our local place which is an E2U dealer and we actually liked this better. Very few bubbles which is a big pain with metallics. We have not tried it for chips but no reason to suspect any issues.

  7. Marcus Weaver

We only do a couple floors a month so are not “experts”. But from what we have tried, this epoxy is the flow king. More than liquid metal. You cannot get in trouble with it. It took a day longer to cure hard enough for some furniture but the slab temps were down a bit. Pricing was competitive at about 200 for 3 gl. We will use this for the time being.

  8. Cornerstone floors

This was a great find. I usually use Marble wrap since it is available close to me but while visiting a relative I was talked into doing a floor. I discovered Walt Tools was nearby and had epoxy. I had a great conversation with Don and I left with 3 3gallon kits and some polyaspartic. Using it was very smooth. It has a long working time like I am used to and that was my biggest fear. It may be even longer than the marble product. Metallic powders flowed easily and I got the same wispy look I can only get with my usual stuff. Since I live 900 miles away I am not sure how often Ill pay for shipping but at least I know of a solid substitute if I ever need it.
